Communion

What is Communion?

Communion is an act of remembering what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross of Calvary.  It is reminding us of the price God paid to buy us back from the kingdom of darkness. It is telling us that Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father. It is only through His broken body that we have life. (Revelations 1:5)

Every time we take communion we overcome by the blood of the Lam.  Our power is in the blood of Jesus. We recognise that Jesus gave his life so that we could live. We confirm that He overcame the world so that we could become over comers of the world. Revelations 12:11

When and where can I take communion?

Just like tongues there has been great deception and religious rituals around communion. The reason is only to keep you and me from knowing the true power therein. There is great power in taking communion often. 1 Corinthians 11:23 For I pass on to you what I received from the Lord himself. On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread 24 and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this to remember me.” 25 In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people – an agreement confirmed with my blood. Do this to remember me as often as you drink it.

This scripture teaches that we take the covenant meal to remember what God did for us.  It also states that we do this to remember Him as often as we take it. That means do it often, all the time, every day.  Remember, remember, and remember what Jesus did, that our Father loves us with an amazing Love.  Take it and know the power of overcoming the world that is in it. (John 10:14-18)

Your home is a good place to have communion.  Men, as the head of your home, take the authority that God gave you and lead your family in prayer and communion daily. Break any possible attacks or tongues’ that the enemy might have launched against you with the blood of Jesus. Cover your family and marriage by confirming your covenant with God every day. Acts 2:46 they worshiped together at the temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and share their meals with great joy and generosity 47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

Who qualifies to take communion?

If you are a born again believer you qualify. It is believed and taught that the covenant meal is only for some people that are sinless. How ridiculous, there is no one that is without sin.  Romans 3:9-10

If we want to restrict people from taking communion based on sin, then there is not a human being that walks this planet that qualifies to take the covenant meal.  We all sin no matter who we are. That is why Jesus came, because we needed a saviour.  1 Peter 1:18-19

Communion is a matter of the heart and should not be taken lightly.  It is important that when you take communion that your heart it pure before God.  That does not mean you should be sinless, that is impossible. It simply means that you confirm that Jesus Christ made you righteous and not your own works or goodness. It means that you partake in humility and not to prove to others how holy you are.
